Another giggle sounds. In front of the deep-breathing boy appears another, slightly younger one. A bright, wide grin stretches over the bottom of his face, and tight, dark green curls frame his face in its entirety. A phantom trickle of blood drips from the crown of his head, down his face, his neck, and his black gakuran to the shadow-obscured sidewalk in an intermittent dripping and dropping.
His gray sock-covered feet appear as though they don’t make contact with the ground. In his hand, he holds a knife.
“Sorry, Kacchan,” the floating boy speaks.

The girl sighs something heavy, and Toji looks up at her for it. It’s not the sort of sound one would just expect a young lady to make, let alone in the presence of a stranger. Everyone’s got appearances to keep up these days.
She reaches behind her head with too-pale fingers and pulls dark locks up into a handheld ponytail style.
Oh.
AKA: I know canon Toji is [just] bad with names, but, like… what if he had face blindness instead? (I don’t think I did actual prosopagnosia much justice here. You should research it on your own if you’re interested in learning more!)

He isn’t sure if “home” is the right word to title Ryomen Sukuna’s estate, but it’s the closest thing he has to a real and actual place of belonging in this era he is so unused to that calling it a “home” feels only natural. But “homes” aren’t supposed to be that violent, and “homes” aren’t supposed to be that quiet. So, maybe the estate really isn’t his home, and maybe he’s putting too much thought into this, but what else is there to think about when one trudges through the snow with no end in sight, no goal in mind?
Nursing a few broken fingers, a few cracked ribs, an eye swollen shut, and a limp in one knee, Itadori Yuuji walks.
