Summary
Tucker liked to think he'd gotten good at clinging to things over the years; if you got tired enough of things slipping away, clinging became a bit of a necessity. Of course, maybe the more sensible plan would be to not get quite so attached, and if Tucker was any less stubborn of a person maybe he wouldn't bother. But Tucker was a lover, not a fighter, and he didn't do 'not getting attached', he didn't do 'pushing people away', and he definitely didn't buy into the 'lone wolf' mentality--none of the Reds n' Blues did. No matter how aloof they seemed, the Golden Rule among simulation troopers was that there was no ditching allowed.
Which made Agent Washington, the incredibly distant lone wolf, an anomaly of sorts in their orbit. He didn't refuse the simtroopers' friendship as much as he did try and earn it, constantly, and there didn't seem to be a cap on how much he was willing to sacrifice to make up for past mistakes. It requires a special kind of stubborn to take someone with so many jagged edges and smooth them down, but there was absolutely no one better for the job than Tucker and no one that deserved the effort more than Washington.

Church goes quiet mid-sentence.
Not the normal kind of quiet where he’s sulking or thinking up an insult. This time was different. Sharper.
His hologram stiffens. The edges of his form begin to blur, the rifle glitching in his hands. It melts away into pixels as Church reaches up to clutch his head, only for him to suddenly flicker out.
“Epsilon?” Carolina says, concern bleeding into her voice.
No response.

A loud groan shook Tucker from his thoughts. Church walked across Tucker’s folded arms, his head thrown back, covered by his hands. Tucker was struck with the image of light blue armor, doing the same exacerbated walk across the base back in Blood Gulch. What had he said then? ‘Caboose, if you touch the microwave one more time I swear to god I will—“
In a very similar tone to Tucker’s memory, Church announced, “Just tell me what happened between you and the orange asshole so we can move on.”
“I slept with him.” Tucker admitted.
“See was that so—“ Church’s rant cut short, his hand still up in the air with that annoying point he did when he knew he was right. “You what?”

“Put him in storage or something,” Wash says, determinedly not looking at Epsilon as he speaks. For a second Wash worries that he’s going to have to carry Epsilon. Epsilon was his AI, after all, so it makes sense to stick them together again.
Except for the fact that Washington absolutely cannot under any circumstance carry Epsilon again. It doesn’t matter if it would only be in storage, that Epsilon wouldn’t really be in his head. He can’t.
Sometimes, Wash hallucinates his dead teammates. He knows his brain is messed up, but he also knows it’s Epsilon’s fault, so when he has to help Carolina rescue Epsilon, he… well, he’ll do it. He does it. He’s over it. Except then Carolina goes and implants Epsilon and Wash realizes quite suddenly that he isn’t over it at all.Series
