Jesse’s been silent long enough now that it’s become a tiny bit unnerving. The way his gaze keeps skating over toward Adam every couple of seconds before it shoots back forward is anything but inconspicuous—he’s staring while trying to make it look like he’s not staring.
It’s the look of someone with poorly concealed interest. More accurately, it’s the look of someone who’s up to something and needs an accomplice.

Julie opens her mouth, shuts it again. She can't say it. How is she supposed to say it? She runs a hand over her face and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Then she spins on her heels to pace to the other side of the room so fast her braid hits her straight in the face. "Okay," she says to no one in particular, spreading her palms to splay her fingers as if she's gesturing towards something. Clearly, it's her last bit of sanity slipping away from her. Her eyes squeeze shut. Julie takes a deep breath and finally tells them the unimaginable. The impossible.
"I might be experiencing a mild attraction to Charlie."
