Armin Arlet is on his own mission, intentionally gaining admission to a secretive research lab he's only heard stories about. He wasn't a spy, much less a competent fighter despite being a shifter. If a building full of others like him were to learn that he was there to gather intel on them for a man disavowed from their community...That wouldn't be good.
Quests for romance or information don't usually evolve dark conspiracies, gruesome experiments, twisted political ties, a group of former deadly warriors or a madman in a cowboy hat with too many guns to count. Neither Ymir or Armin viewed themselves as monsters before, but to keep their lives, they just might have to become the things they promised themselves they never would.
