Summary
Chief Johnson must have on flats, or else tiny little kitten heels, because she’s looking up at Sharon now. Just barely—just a subtle uptilt of her head.
Sharon swallows. Her throat aches.
She’s suddenly reminded of why she had originally tasked her team to deal with this case, why on Monday and Tuesday they had been the ones to come up to Major Crimes only to find the bullpen deserted. As infuriating as they are, it isn’t Flynn or Provenza or even Sanchez that Sharon had wanted to avoid speaking to—it was Chief Johnson, who has the most bizarre way of getting under her skin. It’s Chief Johnson whose words have, on occasion, left her puzzling for weeks, trying to figure out if she had actually been making a point or whether she’d only been intending to throw Sharon off. And it was her whose eyes, whose hair, whose skin had made her stare, made her commit the other woman’s appearance to memory. Not in an admiring way, not in an envious way, but in some other way—some long-forgotten other kind of way, a way that keeps her from sleeping in the middle of the night, which only ebbs temporarily at her own touch.

Summary
Flynn takes the seat Sykes abandons, presses his arm right up against Brenda’s. He’s on his third diet coke and he’s got a toothpick in his mouth.
How long were they in that bathroom?
Brenda picks up her glass and Sharon instinctively mirrors her motions.
“To date night,” Brenda says, clinking them together.
Sharon stares into her eyes, then wishes she hadn’t. They look like they did just before Brenda pressed her up against that sink. She should look away, she thinks. And she should drink her shot. One of them should. But they don’t, they keep staring, their glasses raised.
Eventually, Brenda blinks. She turns to Sanchez and affects a goofy smile. She clinks her glass against the neck of his beer. “To date night.”

Summary
10:45 to 11:00 at night is a dangerous time for Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. This is just a brief glimpse into her world for the few days leading up to and after the worst day of her life. **Going to be real honest here, this is probably one of the darkest stories I've ever written. There are definite suicidal thoughts and glimpse's of domestic abuse. There's also a lot of fighting to save Brenda too. No death.**

Summary
Sharon had always suspected that someday this would all come to a head - this strange way that she and Rusty and Brenda had all become intertwined, bound together by a past tinged with regret and turmoil with a sadistic serial killer to boot.
An exploration of the complicated connections that bound them - Sharon and Rusty and Brenda in various combinations - all together. Implied Shandy. Real, real light Sharon/Brenda if you squint.
Post Special Master Part 2 (post-Season 3 finale). Canon compliant (for now; see chapter notes for changes).

Summary
Brenda doesn’t say anything for a while, so Sharon just watches her eat the donut. She thinks it’s probably illegal in some countries, the way Brenda eats. Scooping up a glob of raspberry jam on the tip of one finger, sucking it off and making those indecent moaning noises.
Aside from the donut and the lascivious way she’s eating it, she looks surprisingly professional. She has on nude lipgloss and just the lightest traces of peach blush, and she’s wearing a smart box-pleated navy skirt with a matching blazer.
Finally, Sharon says, “Isn’t your husband in Virginia for another week, Chief?”
She adds the title as a courtesy. She expects Brenda to tell her, like she told everyone else, to call her by her first name, but she doesn’t. The corners of her mouth just quirk up a little.
“He is.”
