Ichigo, startled by the sound, about jumped out of his skin. He hadn’t realized there was a man in the room. The stranger had blonde hair and was wearing an unusual hat. The hat had green and white stripes. It covered the man’s forehead.
“You gave us quite a freight.” His voice sounded familiar but Ichigo couldn’t place just where he had heard it before.
Ichigo’s eyebrows drew together. “Who,” Ichigo began only to wince. His voice sounded rough. Like really, really rough. He tried again anyway. He didn’t know this ghost. “Who are you?”
The man’s eye narrowed. A few seconds dragged by before he spoke. “I’m an acquaintance of your mother’s.”
Ichigo’s eyebrows stayed furrowed together. He didn’t know if he believed that. Even if it did, what did it matter? It wasn’t like he was going to trust this adult. “I never seen you before.”
The ghost raised his shoulders before dropping them. “My work keeps me busy.”
