"Lucy said you'd be down here."
"Mhm."
"What are you looking at?"Susan sat beside her older brother, who she'd found sitting in one of the crypts in Aslan's How. In front of him was a painted carving, which had been etched into the wall.
The carving was of a man. His skin was pale. Rich chestnut locks that were marvelously curled. He wore Narnian armor and held a crown on his head. He had a spear in one hand and a sword in the other. Behind him were what appeared to be castle grounds. Cair Paravel.
"Is that...?"
"Yeah."Susan found herself gazing at the sight just as Peter had. She put her hand slightly over her mouth.
"What did he do?"
"... He saved Narnia."Peter looked at her. "Su, he took after me." She looked at him with sympathetic eyes, and laid a hand on his shoulder. "After us." She said. Together they both looked back. "Lucy found it when she was exploring. She immediately knew." Susan chuckled. "I'm surprised that I didn't. Look at that hair." That got a chuckle out of Peter. "... He stood up when the Kingdom needed him. I knew he could do it." Susan smiled. "He was a good friend," Peter's jaw clenched. "Yeah. Friend."

Perhaps his heart could finally be on the mend, if only he could stop being distracted by well meaning siblings, his past lover, or reports of foreign powers trying to get up to mischief in Narnia's borders...

Summary
Peridan thought that the hard part was over. Instead of burning with unrequited love, Edmund loved him in return. For his part, Edmund left the Lone Islands astonished by the depth of his feelings for Peridan when he had only just discovered them. It should have been a simple happy ever after. But circumstances keep separating Edmund and Peridan: espionage missions to Calormen, foreign princesses sent to court Edmund, jealousy, and still for Peridan, the fear of hatred. Love alone does not guarantee happiness, so they must find a way to overcome the obstacles, if they can. Peridan has just returned from his vision-quest, but Edmund has some troubling news waiting for him.
