Also? A serial killer who just happens to be Erik’s father may or may not be getting out of the psychiatric institution where he’s been for the last twenty years. So Erik has a lot going on, and he’s not going to be dealing with any of it in a particularly healthy manner.

If they ever want to truly live peacefully and not in the shadow of these events, they will have to deal with all of it so they can leave it behind them and move onto a better future.
