In that kitchen, with the scent of miso rising like memory, it was enough to feel like he’d simply gone out for a while—and might, somehow, still come home.

Tsuwabuki Daigo was a human. After a minor incident that led to an injury, he was discovered by the local yokai. They patched him up, and welcomed him to what was supposed to be a hidden village for demons that have yet to become wild. This turn of events led to him to Arhat's 28th, Sharak Sanzo, and the divine judgment from Heaven that was about to fall upon the village.
Of course, there's also the recently-unemployed Sanzo's party who has business with their replacement.
