Kattigan/Non-Binary Reader (no use of Y/N, goes by Shadow and they/them)
Shadow had been deep in undercover work for years, many faces and names passing over them like clockwork. But when they stumble upon a camp in the dead of the night, its a group of people they least expect. Specifically, a person they hoped to never see again.
//
As in, there was another person in the Falcon's Rebellion with Kat, Teor and the like, and they didn't leave on the best of terms.

"Tonight, I'd also like to announce the formal betrothal between Sir Julien of House Davinos, and the youngest son of House Tachonis, Lord Occtis."
Lady Aranessa's proclamation rings in his ears like the plate of cake that slips from his fingers to shatter on the floor. He flinches as a hundred gala attendees turn their heads to stare at him, amongst them being Thaisha at his side.
"What–?" She sounds as blindsided as he feels. She takes him by the shoulders, turning him to face her. "Occtis, I leave you alone for one day and now I find out you're betrothed to Julien fucking Davinos?"
"I-I—" Occtis stutters, heart pounding in his ears, "didn't know?"
Over Thaisha's shoulder he can see Julien glaring at him like he's personally at fault for this mess, nevermind that he most certainly is not.
This might actually be worse than if Father found me.
~*~
The Tachonis temporarily stay their hand and Occtis survives the night at the Palazzo Davinos. Turns out there's more than one way to try to protect an unwanted son.

[ARANESSA]
How does my ex-husband, there before the banner tore,
a formerly ignored child soldier from the vine war,
decades later on the run, evaded capture so far
become the martyr of Dol-Makjar?
Or, Alexander Hamilton but it’s about Thjazi Fang.

Occtis' life is a mess. He's in a new city. A new apartment. A new school.
Everything is new.
A chance meeting with the staff of a local cafe and their recurring customers is also new.
But maybe new isn't bad.

Summary
Tyranny can’t lose sight of reality. She was made and shaped for service. Nothing more and nothing less. There are centuries of hierarchy and cunning, violence and submission, defining her. Demons understand power the way fish understand water—it’s simply the medium through which everything moves. And Wicander holds power over her, whether he wants it or not.
Whether he hates it or not.
And he does hate it. Which honestly makes it worse for her.
(or tyranny reflects on who and what she is in relation to wicander)

"It just made me think of things I learned with the Torn Banner, got nostalgic."
Her eyes softened a little as she elbowed him. "I guess being a child mercenary sounds more fun than what we've got going on now, if ya think about it a certain way."
He shrugged. "I wouldn't change it," he said, stopping just short of what he really meant to say, which was "now I have you." Instead, he politely left her at the gate of her flat building and turned to walk back to the barracks on his own, wistfully watching the late afternoon bustle of the city.Five lessons Azune learned from a gaggle of rebel mercenaries + one thing he figured out on his own.

Summary
"He was so young, during the rebellion. He got his fair share of scars, sure, but this is - " he blinks back wetness in his eyes, both because he doesn't know what it means, and also because he will not let Thimble be right about his big wet kitty-cat eyes. "He was reckless, but not stupid. Where has he been?"
If Thimble catches the crack in his voice, she's kind enough to let it pass. "I dunno. You all finding me in the hideout - obviously, it was a fucking nightmare, but at least that part was good. Seeing you again. Then, Kat walking in like that...yeah." She sounds somber. "He was on Thaz's mind, sure, but he wasn't one of the pieces he kept on the board."
"Do you think if he had been kept closer, he would be less - " a dozen words flit across his mind, not all of them Common, but none seem quite right.
"Fucked up?" Thimble offers, and something in Teor's heart hurts.

Summary
“'I am sorry, though,' Bolaire continued, 'that the Archanade did not see you as a person.'
'Why are you sorry?' Thimble tilted her tiny head to show confusion. 'I mean, it worked out great for us. Got right through those alarms no problem and now you can do what you want with just us in here. It would be different if I’d tried to like, buy a ticket, and they wouldn’t let me, but I can just fly over the ticket counters anyways.'
That earned her a chuckle. 'It is useful, and of course I’d rather us be alone, but I’d also rather you not be a useful object.’"
Or, the first time they were alone, Thjazi tied Bolaire up and left Thimble to make sure he didn’t interfere with their heist. She stared down and wondered why this odd mask was any different from the vicious body he wore. This story is three short scenes of how they became friends.

Summary
Kattigan watches it happen in slow motion. It’s like a runaway cart crashing into a street vendor, or a lone deer stumbling into a wolf pack’s hunting grounds. It’s a disaster that cannot be stopped as he watches it. All he can do is haul Tyranny out of the way and snatch Thimble from the air to keep her from flying into the cloud of dust that he knows is about to disperse from the patch of flowers that Wicander fucking Halovar has just stumbled his way through.
“Do not move,” Kattigan snaps as Wick tries to join them. Wick goes still, mouth agape, still unused to people demanding anything of him. Spoiled little rich boy, Kattigan thinks, of course this would happen to him.In which Wick gets sex pollened, and Kattigan lends a hand.

Summary
"I say unto you, what he hath done famously, he did
it to that end: though soft-conscienced men can be
content to say it was for his country he did it to
please his mother and to be partly proud; which he
is, even till the altitude of his virtue." -Coriolanus, Act 1.iAn adapted and abridged version of Coriolanus, but it's about the Falconer's Rebellion and the bringing of Thjazi Fang to heel by the ever valorous Sir Julien Davinos.
The text of Coriolanus is taken from MIT: https://shakespeare.mit.edu/coriolanus/full.html
