Slowly, he opens up to Lif, Heavy, and then his parents (including Chive), Feeling so fragile and hopeless, he takes the shame and embarrassment he feels opening up as a blessing compared to being 6 feet under if he stayed silent. With the help of his loved ones, he feels less alone and begins to find healthier ways to cope.
