Castiel rides into King John Winchester’s capital with his celestial armor still gleaming and exile still fresh on his back. Denied by the Order that raised him and stripped of his rank for daring to attempt to rescue his sister, he has only one option left.
He’s come to the king's court seeking aid to rescue his beloved sister from the clutches of an abusive marriage.
Castiel feels duty-bound to save her at all costs.
He didn't expect the cost to be his heart.

The stars had always held a fascination for Dean - many times in their youth, Dean would take his brother Sammy out to a place far removed from the lights of civilization, and they would spend hours staring up at them. When Sam left for Stanford, Dean worked as a mechanic in their foster dad Bobby's garage to help pay for his education. But now, with Sammy close to graduation and Bobby wanting to retire and turn the shop over to him, Dean finds himself attending community college at the ripe old age of twenty-eight. And as part of his business degree, he gets to study the stars he's always loved looking at.
Castiel is a Navy man in a long line of Navy men, serving as a Gunner's Mate in his ship's armory. He's approaching the end of his six-year enlistment and while he's good at his job, he has no desire to make a career of it like his father and siblings have - but has no idea what else to do with his life. What he DOES have are college tuition benefits, so takes an Astronomy course at a local community college on his way to figuring out his destiny.
What neither of them were expecting to find was each other.

Summary
After seeing Sam safely accepted to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Dean finally feels like he can start pursuing his own dream - which just so happens to be Modern Dance after having passed by the studio on his way to work. Then his instructor, Rowena, tells him about an opportunity at a dance company in Kansas City, which he discovers is run by Gabriel Shurley - brother to Castiel Shurley, the man who's audition for the Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York inspired him to pursue his new-found passion.
Castiel Shurley is adrift - moving to Kansas City with his brother to help run their cousin Balthazar Angeles' dance company after a falling out with his Artistic Director - and lover - in New York. The dance company is a wonderful, talented group, but Castiel found his love for dance shattered along with his heart.
That is, until a green-eyed, bow-legged, incredibly gifted novice dancer appears for auditions, and Castiel feels the urge to dance - and love - return to him.

He’s not sure what Dean had seen on his face, but it must have been enough to grant him this wish with no questions asked, and he wasn’t about to examine this gift horse any further — for Castiel has something very special planned for Yule. Something that requires a fireplace for burning the Yule log, of course (Kansas winters being far too cold to hold a bonfire outside), but more importantly — privacy.

After a hunt that goes very wrong, Cas discovers two things: First, the closer he is to Dean - the more of their skin that touches - the quicker Dean heals, with the added benefit of less diminishment of his grace.
Second - it seems Dean has realized this as well, and might be putting himself into increasing danger in order to warrant this physical contact from Castiel.
Castiel means to approach him about this - but he knows Dean, and assumes he'd meet with a brick wall. But the choice is taken from him when Dean is badly injured during a hunt and forces the issue.

Author Castiel Novak, turned editor of a supernatural book series, is out on a run when he almost trips over an injured dog. Taking him home to nurse him back to health, Castiel soon discovers this is no ordinary dog.
What Castiel originally thought was simple, pulpy fiction might be more real than he could have believed.
And Dean the Dog might become more important to him than he could have ever imagined.
Inspired by the prompt: "On his morning run, Castiel Novak finds a lost dog. He takes him home temporarily, only to discover that the dog has the intelligence of a human. After the dog successfully answers Castiel's questions (via a game of scrabble or something) Castiel learns that the dog, Dean, is actually a human who had been attacked by a witch. Castiel must now find the witch and kill it so he can save Dean. He also has to go buy dog food, since dogs can't eat bacon cheeseburgers :D"
