The datapads on the desk stare down at Dogma where he lays on carpet stained with his own blood and mock him.
It was not his desk and it never would be, not really, but all the ‘pads on it are his responsibility. As is a good portion of the Coruscant guard.
If only his subordinates could see him now. They have not liked him since his transfer to the guard's command staff. It has been months since he had been taken before the chancellor and given the posting.
It's horrible and lonely but it is the least he can do to keep his brothers safe.

The 119th is an exemplary battalion. They crush their opponents without pause, constantly push back the enemy with no rest.
Their General, Jedi Master Pong Krell, has received many accolades for his tremendous work in this war. No other battalion has had so many consistent victories – it only makes sense that their losses are just as high. True, they lose more soldiers than any other, but no one else has seen such overwhelming victories, either.
His Captain, CT-8118, otherwise known as 'Harbor', would really just like some space to breathe.

Cody was almost positive that those were the words Fox had struggled to get out over the comm when his little brother was pulled out of the Chancellor’s office. He was almost positive, but not quite.
And in another life he would have accepted his doubt, pushed away his instincts, and told himself everything was fine until it was too late.
But not in this one. He had sworn by a promise to protect his brother and this time, he was never going to give up.
"The Jedi were meant to die in the war."
Fox had spent nearly his entire life guarding secrets that he should not have known. He had become adept at lying and manipulating the people around him to work towards a dream that was not his own.
And in another life he would have accepted his hatred, refused to confront his own culpability, and told himself it would all get better until it was crumbling around him.
But not in this one. Not unless someone saw how he was helplessly falling apart and tried to help.

Summary
Officially, the Coruscant Guard were a collection of specially-produced batches of Clones designed and trained for Military Police work, collected together to defend the Military and Political infrastructure of Coruscant. To the Senate, the Jedi, and the Public, they are a constant reminder of how much the war has consumed the daily life of the Republic. To the GAR, they're some warped mirror of their Brothers, enforcing strict regulations and uncaring for their own struggles.
Unofficially, the Coruscant Guard are the willing tools of the Sith, trained since they were decanted or pulled from the ranks of the GAR to be loyal not to the Republic, but to the Dark Lords. To the Guard, everyone else are ignorant fools who don't see what's right in front of their faces.
All of these viewpoints are, in some way, correct. And where there is a shared truth, there is overlap. And where there is overlap, there is potential for change.
(The Coruscant Guard are born, bred, and raised Sith. Now if only everyone else didn't try and bridge the gap.)

His name was Simon, and some part of Ava hated that she knew it now because The Convict was a criminal, a murderer - a butcher, some said.But Simon - Simon - was a person, who had parents and had a childhood, and had a voice that shook and quivered and broke as it yelled at her through a shitty microphone - "You sent me to die down here, and you don't even know my name?" - and Simon was clever, and Simon's amalgamated ship of spare metal had somehow moved off their plotted map, and yet he had found the coordinates for the lost SM-8 and had begged her to set him free for it's data.
Simon - the one responsible for the destruction of the Filament Station, the one who's life was in her hands - was an enigma of data versus emotion in her brain.
Simon wasn't talking.

CG-Unit 1010 is functioning at perfectly normal parameters. It obeys orders. Enforces the law. It is not afraid of the Masters that bought it. It does not mourn the Units that fail to measure up to their exacting standards. The Behavioral Chip does not allow such aberrant behaviors.
GAR Units are given many allowances. Fox wonders, sometimes, exactly when they will face the consequences of that.

Just as the car pulled out of the manor’s long driveway, Felix began to speak.
“You never told me why we’re going to Paris, mom.” He said softly. He hesitantly turned to face his mother, still fiddling with the ring on his hand.
His mother’s eyes drifted down to the ring he was wearing for a split second. He caught the dark look in her green irises. It was only for a brief second before it was replaced with that same smile. It still made his heart drop nonetheless.
“We’re going to visit Aunt Emilie.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Why must something be wrong for us to visit?”
Or: Felix is in Paris permanently. There’s no going back to London. Nothing to go back to.
