"I believe you may be right," Sable stepped forward, close enough that Dahlia could smell the lingering scent of the gardens that always seemed to cling to her. "What would be your recommended course of treatment?"
Dahlia raised a brow, tipping her chin up as Sable guided her backwards, deeper into the shadows until they were tucked away out of sight. "Sleep."
Sable shook her head, silver locks falling over her shoulder as she backed Dahlia against the wall, hands braced either side of her head. "Now that's no fun." She leaned down, a slow smile curving her lips as Dahlia's eyes widened. "I was thinking of something a little bit more... active."

With the gods slain and their duties fulfilled, Emmrich Volkarin brought his Rook home. Together, they built a quiet life. For a time, all was well. His life’s work was complete. He had thwarted Death itself, ascended as one of the few liches of the Necropolis, and gained a soulmate – a wife whose soul burned brighter than any star.
Before she passed, Rook left him with one final request, 'never change, keep moving, keep loving'. Emmrich had thought he would be prepared when she finally slipped away – that he would be strong enough to carry the memory of their life together.
Oh how wrong he was. Though her body is gone, Emmrich finds himself encountering different versions of Rook.
As he forms new relationship with each apparition, his finds himself questioning his long-held beliefs about mortality and immortality.

You giggle into his hold, allowing him to grab two handfuls of your ass as he crowds you against the metal bar. "John," you pant, music to his ears. You don't notice how he opens your apartment door like he's been there before, a gold key on his keyring in the same shape of your own. You don't question how he knows to turn left for your bedroom instead of right towards your roommate's.

For an openly practicing necromancer, Professor Volkarin was a man whose existence seemed devoted to making you forget what blood magic he used on corpses.
Isolde trailed him silently, watching him with as much attention as she gave to scanning the woods for dangers. When Rook had ordered Isolde onto this mission, Isolde hadn’t needed their purposeful, pointed look to know that her assignment wasn’t simply to guide and guard Professor Volkarin through the Arlathan wilderness. The malfunctioning artifact summoning demons too close to Strife’s camp, less than a week after Professor Volkarin had joined their party, was as much an opportunity as it was an obligation. Rook was shrewd; they always had more than one reason for doing anything they did.
Watch him.
A dangerous man, witnessed only by a lowly guard, might well give himself away.
