Summary
This could’ve been the best thing that ever happened to me, but instead it’s the absolute worst. When I heard that we were going to have vertical form groups at the start of the new term, I never imagined that the universe had a fucked up sense of humour.
See the thing is, the guy who just sat down next to me with the dark curls and the stormy eyes, his name is Charlie Spring. I’ve had a massive crush on him for the better part of a year… and I’m pretty sure he has no idea who I even am. Or if he does then he probably doesn’t have a good opinion of me. And now not only is he in my form group, but he’s been assigned to sit right next to me.
This could’ve been a great way for us to finally actually meet; I wouldn’t have to think up some elaborate reason to get to talk to him, I could just strike up casual conversations and we could get to know each other. Then when I finally got the courage to confess, I wouldn’t be some random stranger.
It could’ve been the best thing… except…

For context: In this AU, Nick and Charlie never got together at Truham and Nick didn't have his Bi awakening but they became really good friends. Charlie was on-and-off with Ben for years. Nick went to Leeds for Uni and Charlie went too the following year and now they're living together in a 2-bedroom flat. Oh look... they were roommates. I wonder how this will end haha.

After a disastrous final year in school and a gap year to get himself back on track, Nick is in his first year of university. He's not interested in anything but getting an education, and keeping his mother from worrying herself to death.
