Summary
The rain fell hard and fast but it didn’t bother James. He sat just inside the courtyard. The June night was balmy, the large cold drops providing a nice juxtaposition in temperature.
For all intents and purposes he should be in the Gryffindor Common Room celebrating but he wasn’t. He was sitting against the wall, the feel of the cold stone soothing against his back.
He’d led the Quidditch team to victory, but it was bittersweet. He looked at the letter crumpled in his left hand, if looks could kill, the letter would be a pile of ashes. His parents were sick again, just thinking about it caused his chest to seize up and a lump to form in his throat.

“I’ll kill you,” Lily said looking at Mulciber with narrowed eyes. “There was an attack on my town. My parents, my-my family, could’ve been killed.” Hot tears welled up in her eyes.
She stopped struggling against James but kept glaring at the three boys in front of her. “You told them about Cokeworth then, Snape?”
James saw Snape recoil at Lily’s last accusation. “Don’t lie, nobody goes to the midlands on purpose,” she continued, “hope you’re happy.”
