For a long time, everything in the Dark Cacao Kingdom was almost perfect.
The halls were cold, the skies often gray, and the guards didn’t believe in smiling—but inside the castle, there was warmth. It lived in quiet mornings and louder arguments, mismatched teacups, and the occasional flower tucked behind a war general’s ear.
Pure Vanilla, all sunbright laughter and insufferable habits—like braiding Cacao’s hair when he was grumpy—balanced out the king’s frost. He kissed his forehead in front of the guards just to watch him twitch. He called love a language spoken best through touch… so Dark Cacao learned to speak it.
Their life was full of small, ridiculous joys. Cacao pretending not to like the cinnamon biscuits but always stealing three. Vanilla teasing him until he almost smiled.
It wasn’t perfect. But it was theirs.
Until one morning, the tide brought something in.
A body. A face like Pure Vanilla’s—but wrong. A version that had never escaped the god Shadow Milk Cookie. A version twisted by years of cruelty, wearing trauma like perfume and smiling with something too hungry to be kind.
