"Is that why gege likes to talk on the phone before going to bed every night?" he murmured, trying to coax either a reply or a deeper blush out of Xie Lian. "Do you find San Lang's voice comforting?"
Nodding half-heartedly, Xie Lian's lips pursed once more. His hands were resting on top of his knees, fingers thrumming on his thighs. They'd been relaxing all evening, but now Xie Lian just seemed sort of.. restless?
"That's good to know," Hua Cheng crooned, eyes sparkling as he lowered his mouth to hover it next to Xie Lian's ear. "Then I'll make sure to call you every night, baobei."

Hua Cheng finds out that Xie Lian is quite fond of his voice. Turns out, Xie Lian also quite likes it when Hua Cheng calls him by pet names.

It isn't that Xie Lian isn't afraid of his body, of whether it will do what he wants it to do, feel what he wants it to feel. But he's much more afraid of taking slow careful steps into the unknown than he is of leaping.

Or: Xie Lian can, in fact, get it up, often and enthusiastically. Getting off is a little trickier.

An enraged ghost refuses to leave a village alone until they give him the world's rarest soup, a delicacy so rare that the recipe has been lost to the ages. Luckily, Xie Lian knows where to look for long-lost scrolls.

There's just one problem: the main ingredient is...

Raising a brow, Hua Cheng held out his hand, receiving the scroll from a profusely sweating Yin Yu. He held it up, skimming it with his one eye.
    His brow rose even higher.
“What?” Xie Lian said innocently. “What is it, what’s the ingredient?”
The two others turned and looked at him.

    Summary

Xie Lian has spent long enough around sirens to have some grasp of their communication, and some of it is even a little similar to mer noises. This sound, for example, is like the one podmates use to call for each other—curious, beckoning. He suspects it means much the same thing for sirens. Has this siren lost someone, maybe?

Hopefully it will find its lost someone soon, so Xie Lian can go back to sleep.

Then, because nothing good can ever happen to Xie Lian, the siren peeks beneath the overhang. It hangs its head over the jut of stone, its hair billowing like a crown of ink and the yellow sclera of its eye bright against the black. That singular eye catches on his, its pupil dilating, and Xie Lian stiffens.

    Summary

“Cloud Reccesses Apiary,” says a toneless, deep masculine voice, with zero question in it. Wei Ying doesn’t care, because whoever possesses that voice is probably going to come save him from bees like a fucking hero while wearing like, a suit of armor. That’s what you wear to catch bees, right?

“I have like, so many bees outside my front door right now,” he says, mouth running out ahead of him before he can even begin to think about reining it in. “It’s like a sandstorm of bees out there. There are so many bees. I got out of my car and there were just bees and I don’t want these bees. Do you want these bees? Please tell me you will come get these bees. I can’t leave my house and I have enough food for maybe a week but then I’m gonna have to learn how to cook dry beans and no one wants that, especially not me.” Wei Ying runs out of air, takes a breath, and belatedly adds, “My name is Wei Ying. Hi.”

Or: The beekeeping AU that no one asked for.
