Summary
Lancelot’s devotion to his king was undying and obvious in every kneeled greeting. Yet the affection hidden in every kiss to his king’s gauntlet was improper for a knight to feel towards his king.
Sonic did not want to be king. He has grown close to Lancelot, whose formality remains rigid while Sonic wishes they could simply disregard titles. Sonic will do what he must for Lancelot to see himself as Sonic’s equal, even if that means he must kneel for their eyes to meet.
OR Lancelot thinks his affection is improper. Sonic is just an enamored, but does not want to act on his feelings until Lancelot sees them as equals. It becomes a habit for Sonic to help remove Lancelot's armor at night

Summary
Sonic is restless and Shadow has nightmares. Often, they find each other in the night and spar instead of sleeping. When not sparring in a way that looks similar to a murder attempt, they may be found being soft, opening up, and (literally) sleeping together.
Shadow is trying to learn how to heal. In attempt to give everyone a chance to be happy, he has to extend that to himself, and doing so means letting the people he cares about grow closer to him (even if it hurts).

Summary
Working in delivery, Sonic jumped from town to town, never staying in one place for too long. There was much to be afraid of in this world. Of mobians who feared his kind and would kill them if discovered; hunters that sought his kind to make a profit off of in the guild; and his own kind, who fought each other over territory and prey.
As a nightwalker, Sonic lived his life in fear. That is until he is brought to a refuge for nightwalkers of all types to coexist peacefully, owned by a peculiar hedgehog he finds himself indebted to.
