Robby's hands find Dennis’ shoulders, the back of his neck. They slide down his arms to grab him by the elbow, move and direct him through the chaos of the ED with stern precision. They linger in the quiet moments, warmth blooming under his wide, heavy palms.
But when Dennis reaches back—tentative, unsure—most of the time, Robby is gone before he can even make contact.
OR: Dennis might be touch-starved, but he's hungry enough to want to touch too.

Summary
Dennis lays in the bed with a stillness so absolute it feels staged. A ventilator breathes for him in measured sighs, the sound too rhythmic to be human. It almost looks like he’s a kid pretending to sleep in the backseat of his parents’ car, hoping to be carried inside by strong paternal arms.
Robby would do anything for that to be the case. Instead, it is sedation that has smoothed away the sharpness from Dennis’s features.
It is a heart attack that has made him so still.
Or,
Dennis Whitaker fails to clear and gets shocked by a defibrillator. He takes it as a punishment for sinful eyes that can't seem to look away from Dr. Robby and decides not to tell anyone. The ER keeps moving, but Dennis's heart doesn't. It terribly, horribly doesn't.

Dana usually enabled his caffeine habit. But now that she was on a well-deserved break from the Pitt, he has to make the journey to the staff cafeteria himself.

Robby glanced over. Whitaker was still facing the window, his hands twisted in the hem of his sweatshirt.
“If it’s got you this worked up, it must be important. I won't judge.”
Whitaker sighed. “I…I started dating someone. A guy. I met him on a dating app, and we’ve been together about a month.”
Robby hummed in acknowledgement. He didn't speak yet, waiting for Whitaker to continue.
“The problem,” Whitaker muttered, “is that he’s…my first boyfriend. I'm 27 years old, and I've never kissed anyone before, let alone had sex. I've avoided the sex part this far—using work and being tired as excuses—but I'm seeing him this weekend and I can't…I know I can’t hold it off forever.”
Whitaker is a virgin. Robby has a hard time saying no to his favorite resident. When Whitaker asks for help with his problem, what else is there for Robby to do?
