Summary
After “How Do You Sleep?,” John is overwhelmed with guilt and realizes his cruelty toward Paul was really a desperate attempt to get Paul’s attention. The song, the public attacks, even bringing Yoko into the studio were all ways of trying to make Paul react but instead, John only pushes him further into Linda, family, and life on the farm.
One night, alone at the Dakota while Yoko is in Japan, John has a terrifying dream that Paul has killed himself in Scotland because of John’s public aggression. He wakes convinced it is real, rushes downstairs in a panic, and the night valet assures him Paul is alive and it was only a dream.
Shaken and unable to be alone, John invites the valet upstairs for a drink and confesses everything: his guilt, his jealousy, his love, his need for Paul, and the truth behind his cruelty. The story unfolds over four chapters of John, revealing his deepest thoughts about Paul, before shifting to Paul’s quiet life on the farm in Scotland.

Summary
"You're an idiot," Paul says when they're alone again, shaking his head as he shuffles around to stand behind John, and the shadowed sight of the cut at the crown of John's head makes his stomach lurch, "you need stitches."
"Can't be that bad."
"Is, though."
"Can't be, barely even hit me head! Just a bonk on the way down."
Paul wants to argue. He wants to scream at the top of his lungs that John's lucky his bloody skull is so thick. He settles for just puffing up his cheeks with a big, big breath, holding it, and letting it out in a big, big rush.
And calling John an idiot again.
"S'at nice, Bunny? S'at a nice thing t'call your knight in shining armor?" John asks, and he's so bloody loud when he's drunk, and he cackles to himself as he reaches back to paw sloppily at Paul's hip.
"You're no knight," Paul responds coolly, and mercifully, it seems like the bleeding is slowing up. "And that had nothin' to do with me, so don't go draggin' me into it."
That's not strictly true, and Paul knows that, but what else is he supposed to say?

or: what's the difference between a drunken brawl and defending your beloved's honor, anyway?

“Are you dead, Paul?”
John heard the echo of his own breathing at the tip of that question. The hand holding the joint froze before it reached his mouth.
“It doesn't really matter anymore, does it?”

Summary
“I think that to make real art - like, if you want to tap into the current of what’s really going on, you can’t be fully aware of it. You can’t be all in your head about it. You’re not speakin’ the truth, you’re feeling it - lettin’ it speak through you. You’re taking from the realm of truth and transforming it into something a human can perceive, but you don’t always know what it is.”
In late 1966, the baby-faced balladeer Paul McCartney meets an unsuccessful artist named John Lennon at an Avant Garde gala.
The ensuing relationship causes him to publicly lose his mind.

Summary
The last chord rang out through the room and Paul rested his hand on the guitar’s body, waiting for a verdict from John. The other man pursed his lips, resting his chin on his hand, letting the post-song silence stretch.
“Hmm,” he finally began. “Not bad. Better than I expected.”
Paul raised his eyebrows, “High praise comin’ from you. Better than you expected? Fuck, I reckon I must be doin’ somethin’ right.” He leaned back against the headboard, letting the guitar relax back into his lap.
