Lastly and most importantly, watch the local Magical Girl she adored fight back the forces of evil!
All in all, Madoka was like any other girl her age, with maybe an unhealthy fixation on the local Magical Girl, but beyond that normal.
That is until a Magical Mascot approaches her with promises of getting to fight by the side of the Magical Girl she adores so much.
And of course, the Mascot has to be telling the truth, it's not as if it would try and trick or anything.

Hello! To celebrate the upcoming release of Walpurgisnacht Rising and also Bleach Thousand Year Blood war's finally Cour, I've decided to publish my many drafts of Beyond the Threshold. Some chapters will be much longer than others, since I just plan to post the whole drafts at once, so some might be relativity short, while others might be a little longer.

Homura's was left reeling from her failure to convince her friends about Kyubey's lies. And was convinced that everything was going to go wrong and she would be unable to save Madoka from Walpurgisnacht at the end of the month.
All those thoughts were knocked out of her as Magical Girl from another city crashed into her and sent her to the ground.
Shortly after, Homura considered that maybe, she wasn't without hope yet.

Summary
It's been a long time since Madoka made this new world. Too long. Sayaka is gone, Mami and Kyouko feel far too distant, and Homura feels less and less connected to anything around her. The only purpose left to her is to eradicate as many wraiths as possible, but is that really fulfilling Madoka's wish anymore? Can she not just give up? Go out in a blaze of glory, killing one of the swarms outside of the cities too great for even Homura's power, so she can finally meet Madoka one last time?
Then she watches someone else, someone Homura can barely feel more than contempt for, lose her own world. Homura should just leave Kirika to die, it's not as if someone like that deserves to live. Except Madoka chose to save all magical girls, even her. If Homura left her to die, she would not really be fulfilling Madoka's wish; her dedication to her would be revealed to be a pretence. So she does what Madoka would want.
Even if she knows she will come to regret it.

Summary
Mabayu's ending was meant to be rather concise: erase Homura's memory, erase her own memories, and cut. Let the story unfold without her and go on to its intended conclusion.
Shame she hesitated.
But, if she really does let herself be erased and let Madoka ascend, is that really the best ending? Would that leave Homura happy?
Not like she can really change the ending, it's fate, but isn't it worth trying to help a little more?

Instead, an oracle hell-bent on saving the world, no matter the cost, got in the way. Leaving Mabayu with a friendship that starts and ends in murder, and a few realisations about herself.
That timeline is over, but the consequences of it are not.
