Summary
A breeze blows through the yard, rustling the tree leaves and making Johnny shiver. He wraps his arms around himself, drawing his knees up a little closer.
Mrs. Curtis frowns. “You getting chilly?”
“A little,” Johnny admits. “Just when the wind blows.”
—
Two times that Johnny is sick at the Curtis home: once before the accident, and once after.

Summary
Ponyboy Curtis spent his whole life hiding his mutation, because being a mutant wasn't safe, it was scary, but what was even more scary about it was his brothers and the rest of the gang finding out.
And that happens sooner than he thought it would, when he finds himself staring at one Johnny Cade on his death bed. (Healing someone when having only eaten baloney for 2 weeks straight was not recommended).
OR
The Outsiders, except mutants/superpowers exist, and Ponyboy turns out to be one of them.

Summary
He moves to take a seat next to Pony and rests a hand on the back of his neck, “What’s goin’ on, kid?”
Pony glances down at the half finished sheet of paper in front of him before looking back up and muttering, “Homework.”
Darry raises an eyebrow, “Didn’t you already finish your work for tonight? I checked it all earlier.”
At this, Pony at least has the decency to look a bit sheepish as he tries to hide from his brother’s stern gaze. “I, uh,” he clears his throat, “I’m sorry, I just forgot to do this one…”
Pony bites his lip, and Darry feels his stomach clench as he notices the tears pooling in his brother’s eyes. He shifts his hand down to squeeze Pony’s shoulder, “Well you can finish it in the morning, okay? C’mon, let’s get you back to bed.”

for the last month, Darry could feel Pony slipping away—further and further away from them. He just hopes he can pull him back in before it's too late...Bookmarked by JasonKemp

Summary
As I pulled into the driveway of my newest foster home, I had only two things on my mind. Paul Newman, and cigarettes.
---
Or Ponyboy Davis's newest foster home is in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1965. He’s used to bouncing around homes, the survival that comes with it all. What he isn’t used to however, is a gang that would change all that.- Language:
