While on the run Ponyboy has only one good source to document everything in, his journal. The journal that gets passed around to each member of their little group revealing one big story of those months together all told in different handwriting, different words. By different people. Little details to create the big picture. It's not just Ponyboy's story this time.

“I’m gonna go…see who it is.” Darry said slowly. He couldn’t explain why, but he was suddenly filled with dread. He didn't want to know who was at the door. He didn’t want to be the one to open it and look outside. But he had to. Whoever was outside knocked again and he finally mustered up the courage to open the door. He was met with 2 officers, each with grim looks on their faces.
