"Okay, next question!" Dazai exclaimed, eyes lighting up. "Why do you want to visit the arctic circle?"
Chuuya shrugged. He didn't really have a specific answer to that one, either. "I don't know. But I think I'd like to see the Aurora lights."
Dazai raised his eyebrows. "Aurora? Aurora Borealis? As in, the lights that occur when electrons and protons that come from solar storms collide with the gasses in Earth's upper atmosphere—"
"Yes, yes, fuck! Do you ever shut up?"
He didn't know how to, or was too afraid of dreaming, maybe; so Dazai just had to make sure he saw there wasn't anything preventing him from imagining.

It wasn't the total collapse that came after using Corruption. This was different. This was a dull, aching fatigue that settled into his shoulders and refused to leave.
Or: After escaping from Poe's book, Chuuya questions his humanity not for the first time. He gives in and calls Dazai.

He opts to kneel halfway- take in the sight quickly but thoroughly. Why’s Chuuya still on the ground? What happened-? Did he pass out-?
No, Chuuya is wide awake.
Through the moon’s light, overpowering in blue, Dazai registers the trembles coursing through Chuuya’s body in waves- tsunamis. The heaving of his chest that is too quick and shallow. And the natural follow-up of that should be a deep grimace etched on his face, a wince pulling his always emotive, human expressions-
A gasp escapes Dazai’s lips before he can help it.
