After nearly three years of tightrope walking, Sylvain’s gotten pretty good at keeping his balance. The trick, as far as he can tell, is to keep your focus on a fixed point up ahead. Like this: Sylvain’s always known that, if they manage to make it through the rest of this war, they’ll have to eventually turn their efforts towards securing the future of Fódlan. This thing between them—whatever it is—was never meant to actually last. So long as he remembers that fact, holds it tightly against himself like a counterweight, it's pretty easy to keep moving forward; one foot in front of the other, all that wanting left somewhere beyond his direct line of sight.
or, love is a gift Sylvain can never accept gracefully.
