Fox is 8 years old when in 978 ARR Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi stumbles on Kamino and starts a fight with the Prime in the middle of the night. Fox is 10 years old when in 979 ARR he is stationed on Coruscant as Marshall Commander of the systems capital. Fox is 12 years old when in 981 ARR the GAR executes all Jedi as traitors of the Republic and he begins his service under the new empire. Fox is 12 ½ when Lord Vader snaps his neck after he made a fateful mistake.
Fox is 12 ½ when in 942 ARR he finds himself inexplicably alive and understandably exhausted.

“C’mon,” Hound says, knocking his shoulder into Fox’s with a force that makes Fox stumble. “You gotta admit, it’s pretty funny.”
“It’d be funnier if we didn’t have to investigate fucking bird murder now,” Fox mutters. He can’t believe he chugged his caf for this. The burn on his tongue still stings.
“Burder,” Hound says under his breath. Then, “Wait. You’re not really going to investigate it, are you?”
Fox stops. Hound does, too, shifting his weight, uneasy, like he senses he’s stepped into a trap. “Of course I’m going to fucking investigate it. It’s my job.”
“But. It’s a duck.”
“Wrong. It’s the Chancellor’s duck. And that makes it our problem.”
“Our?” Hound asks weakly.

Summary
You already know how the story goes: after dying at the hands of Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes up in the body of his younger self years before the rise of the Empire. Having been given a second chance, Obi-Wan raises Anakin Skywalker to be slightly less homicidal, stops a number of Jedi from falling and/or dying, prevents the War, reforms the Jedi Order, befriends a Mandalorian or two, curbstomps Palpatine, etc. It takes many years and a few hundred thousand words of being very badass while pretending not to have PTSD around his loved ones, but eventually, Obi-Wan prevents a horrible future that only he knows about and gets a happy ending.
This is not that story.
This is the story of how, just before the grand climax of his time travel fix-it, Obi-Wan Kenobi loses a few decades of his memory, reverting him to the person he was at the age of thirty-six — the first time. Now no one knows about the horrible future Obi-Wan is supposed to prevent, least of all Obi-Wan himself. Whoops.
