In an attempt to wake her, Tim bends down and starts gently rubbing her back. “Luce, hi sweetheart.”
She stirs only slightly, burrowing her face even further into the pillow. He lets out a soft chuckle and moves his hand up to her hair, brushing it out of her face. “Let’s get you up so I can look at that face and then we can get in bed, yeah?”
“Mmm,” she groans but does actually lift her head an inch and barely opens her eyes.
“There she is,” he coos, “My beautiful girl. I missed you.”

After a brutal call leaves Tim Bradford with more than physical scars, he returns to work determined to pretend nothing has changed.
At first, Lucy notices only the little things.Tim checks the locks twice before bed. He sleeps badly. He sits with his back to the wall in restaurants. He's constantly scanning rooms, flinching at unexpected noises and waking from nightmares he refuses to talk about.
