The atmosphere, pace, and characterization are just perfect. I cannot say enough just how much I enjoyed this story. It was a pleasant surprise. I wish there was more (yes, I've read the sequel) but at the same time, it is perfect just the way it is.

The focus is more on Katara herself as a character instead of the romantic relationship. I love that any relationship in the story is only a part of her identity and her world does not revolve around and not too dependent on a single one.
