“Char, I…” he stopped himself. Would this admission be too much? He didn’t want to pressure her, the last thing he wanted was to pressure her, when he understood all too well what it felt like. But he felt that careful, patient gase radiating from her warm chocolate eyes and he heard her smooth, quiet voice when she asked him ‘What is it?’. Maybe this wouldn't be pressure, maybe this would be finally calming the storm.
“I uhm, I kinda need you. I know this is gonna sound so dramatic, but it’s like, with Ray and Jasper, it’s different than with you. Like they get me, but you… you get me. You understand me, so perfectly, honestly it's kinda scary sometimes,” He let himself laugh dryly, and felt a rush of relief when he could hear her soft laughter accompany his. “Char, I just, I need you.”

When Jacob is 16 he stops eating.
He's not sure why he does it, exactly. It's probably mostly for attention, because sometimes he thinks a solid sixty percent of what he does is. Some part of him is probably hoping that one day Mom will snap and finally ask why he keeps leaving his plate untouched when they eat together, or why he never emerges from his room to get a bowl of cereal like Caleb does when they don't. Maybe he's hoping Dad will comment on the way his face starts sinking in after only a couple weeks, the way his clothes start hanging off him in a matter of months. Maybe he's hoping his kind-of-friends will comment on the way he goes missing from the cafeteria, spending his lunch periods tucked up in the tech booth that the theater director always forgets to lock.

"It means that I wish you were sober so we could make out!" Henry doesn't care anymore, if Jasper is drunk enough then he can just try and convince him in the morning that he never said this at all. "Because you're sitting in my bedroom, looking like that only wearing your fucking boxers, and I've been wanting you for so long that it's driving me crazy."
Henry lets out an even louder huff as he paces back and forth for a moment while he continues. "And now you're drunk, and I'm not gonna be one of those guys who are just- just weird, and I wish that you weren't because now would be the perfect time to-"
"I'm not drunk."
