The existence of transphobia and homophobia are central to the plot, but there is no gratuitous detail of people being shitty. Extensive discussion of legislation against gender-affirming care (specifically: the characters are trying to stop such legislation).

Sam Wilson is sick and tired of his friends getting hurt. What good is flying if you can't stop people from hitting the ground?
