If he thinks about Frank often, it’s because he spends a lot of time with him. Peter is just getting to know his new friend: his habits, his gestures, the way he is. It’s normal to register these kinds of details. It’s normal to wonder what his favourite food is, what music he likes, or what shampoo he uses. To want to learn what makes him laugh, what makes him growl, what makes him moan, what makes him blush. If there is, in fact, anything that can make Frank Castle blush.
This is completely normal. Peter has a list.

"You should blame me, kid. I put a 50 cal round through you. How can you even stand to look at my ugly fuckin' mug after that?" It's Frank's response, the way he diverts his gaze revealing the shame he feels beneath the bravado.
"Frank," Peter cuts in, trying to bring the man's attention back to him by stepping closer, "I don't buy take-out for my enemies."
That seems to curl a smile on Frank's lips—gruff, hidden, like everything else about him—before it all dissolves into a grunt. Of course, Peter is pretty sure Frank would die if he didn't grunt every five seconds.
"Fine. It better not be that cheap crap you got last time."

Summary
He summons every vessel of strength left in his face to open the only eye that he can through the aching puffiness. Blurry shapes, light, Teddy, all morph into one, but eventually Jonathan can’t, anymore. He reaches up, one final attempt at some kind of clarity, and he doesn’t know what part of Teddy he finds, but he holds on anyway. He thinks it’s an arm, but it’s enough, pawing at the man like a dog gone blind. Any semblance of contact to soothe every ache inside.
The last thing he feels is a mouth brushing at his temple, a kiss that doesn’t quite know where it wants to be.
A finale fix-it in which Roper is dead, his organisation is well and truly dismantled, and Jonathan and Teddy are left to pick up the pieces—of themselves and each other.
