Summary
Spoon and Scribbles have been on again, off again for years, but their most recent breakup is especially troublesome because, now that they are on a show together, they must continue collaborating as coworkers. Despite the fact that they can no longer go two seconds without insulting each other, Grandpa Earth has arranged a three-hour fundraising telethon that both of them are required to attend. Will Scribbles and Spoon manage to behave or will this interstellar livestream be a disaster? Or, maybe, just maybe, the stars will align just right for them to reach their fundraising goal and rekindle their romance?
For those who don’t know, the fundraising telethon actually happened, and this entire story was inspired by it. The stream is now unlisted, but I was able to access it through my watch history in order to copy down the exact dialogue.
This ended up being a two-shot because, like a cassette, there are two sides to this story. Each part is named after a song Rod Stewart performed during the telethon. (Yes, the Rod Stewart performance actually happened too! It was a wild night! You should have been there!)

A ton of stuff is outdated (for example, Green being called "Green" instead of "Ten Question Marks"), but Blake Andrews themself likes the fic as is, so it's staying that way.

I don't normally read angst like this, but I was curious as to how this fic could be both canon-divergent AND canon-compliant. And WOW. The twist-ending was shocking! It appeared to be canon-divergent; a classic what-if fic, but it was actually canon-compliant the whole time!
