They oohed and ahhed at Wen Qing’s feats, ignoring the coals coiling inside a cage of her own doing. Wen Qing could only breathe in the smog for so long before it choked her out.
Yes, she’s a burnout, slaving away her steps on a count. Her life ticked away even when the stopwatch had already stopped. Her grasp on the finer things in life slipped like water between her palms.
