Summary
To say that Ryland Grace and Simon of Eden get off on the wrong foot would be the understatement of the century.
Being rescued didn’t miraculously solve all of Simon’s problems. He has a lot to adjust to. Being a fresh amputee, the stars not being dead, aliens being real, living on an alien planet, having a human neighbor who doesn't want to kill him, trusting in this so-called “reality” that’s too good to be true… yeah, no, making friends isn’t a priority. Exiting survival mode is easier said than done. He barely even knows who he is when he’s not fighting tooth and nail.
Grace is doing his best not to get attached to the handsome stranger he helped save. Simon may choose to leave Erid once he’s healed. He’s not so desperate for human company that he’d pursue someone who attacked him in their first-ever interaction. He has a good life here on Erid; he totally doesn’t dream of holding another human being’s hand, or being looked at fondly by someone with eyes, or seeing another person’s smile. He has Rocky and Adrian, who are more than enough family for him.
But who does Simon have, if not Grace?

Simon visits class and it’s super cute! He talks with Grace! Bonding! Until he goes ah shit the first human contract you had in 68 years was me trying to kill you and he shuts down a bit, leaving after revealing his brutal past and title

I want dates and times.” Also G is touch-starved and it battles against feeling unsafe with Simons touch and i love it
Simon see the stars and finally maybe believed that he’s not hallucinating all of this!

Caleb dreams of canoodling with or attacking (or sharing his friends and life with) EssekWistful apple cider Caleb and bundle-y Essek 🥰 The calm before the fuckery.
Essek admits that (maybe) Caleb could (possibly) be considered a friend. Caleb recalls breaking and being “fixed” twice, where IkyThot pretends that vamps killed his family
Essek is excited to talk to Caleb, and even when it only shows a little, Caleb notices the change and is like “what u buttering me up for? Not complaining or anything but…” and slips into a little flirtation.
Essek is delighted by Caleb’s annotations in a wizard publication and wants to snag more of his copies… Also it mentioned a publication he wrote a while ago so excited for THAT to be revealed eventually. Caleb’s memory is sure to retain that little mention…
Essek is NOT panicking in a bathtub because he has a very nice night, dammit. He’s also so so curious and cannot Suggest C tells him his backstory.

everyone is floaty and good! Riding the highs of a good feeding/envenoming and there are no dark histories of being on venom and tortured so one doesn’t learn to enjoy it not at all

E and C set to meet up on Thursday (IITY?😉) for blood, Essek dropped of contract in the mail and will go over Caleb’s revisions when they meet, both are hanging on by a thread my guy. Essek like I’m so in control of my life and fine and Caleb’s pretending like his life isn’t a series of panicked Frumpkin snuggles.
Essek has left after being saved by Caleb, and both of them are struggling against panic attacks in the following days.
