"Oi, Argentum, you got company."
Prompto sighed, nearly throwing his paperwork onto the desk he had commandeered from a fellow hunter as he slumped back.
He seemed to be doing that a lot of that recently; sighing, that is. Sighing like the world had crashed down on his shoulders even further, its impossible weight even more unwieldy as the world literally went to shit around them.
"Yeah?" He trailed off expectantly, waiting for the hunter to elaborate. He didn't have time to wait around, even though that was all it felt like they were doing these days. He had hunts to go on, daemons to slay, and things to do, which mostly equated to scrounging for parts for Cindy and avoiding people like it was his job, but they were things he had to do, nonetheless.
His... uh, visitor, seemed to have no such issue in disrupting that unofficial routine.

The floor of the Nibelheim Reactor was stained red with blood.

It looked even deeper, almost black, in the flushed red light of the hall leading to the reactor proper, leaving Cloud to drag himself, almost desperately, down the stairs to check on the other two, each step harder than the last.
The ache of his arm was near impossible to ignore now, and same went with the sharp pain in his gut where he'd been impaled on Sephiroth's sword. His blood spilt almost, too fast, splattering on the ground heavily with each movement.
Cloud's stomach churned, a jagged spear of dread lodging itself firmly in his chest. He gripped his arm tighter, as if it would help.
He felt cold, unnaturally so.

"Fuck you." Prompto hissed as he lunged toward Ardyn, stolen knife in hand. His limbs felt sluggish, stiff, still frozen solid from the cold.
The other dodged, almost effortlessly (unsurprising, it was completely unsurprising; Prompto was probably moments away from kicking the bucket when they took him in, done in by the slow creep of hypothermia and frostbite. He was weak, slow, out of strength, and, most importantly, out of time. Ardyn had the advantage and he knew it).
Ardyn tsk-ed.
"Now, now, this isn't my fault. I am merely stating the obvious."

No. 22: BLEEDING THROUGH BANDAGES -- Reopening Wounds
He hadn't been... entirely sure when he'd been injured. More than likely, it had been sometime between waking up and fighting for his life... which, if he was being honestly, could have meant literally whenever. It didn't help that all he remembered was a distinct feeling of pain and another of panic, all of which eventually got muddled together with the dozens or so other emotions he'd been, and still was, feeling. He'd been running on autopilot, had been for what felt like forever, and it hadn't been until he escaped with Aranea's help that his brain finally started to process things.
(despite what the title might suggest, this isn't humorous, this is just straight angst lol. I'm just bad at thinking up good titles)
