The contestants have been brought back! Huh? Back from what? Well, something happened, didn’t it? They can’t remember. Anyway, it’s time for episode 15 of season 2! Wait, this isn’t Inanimate Island. Where were they? What do you mean Mephone is beginning a completely new season with all of the former contestants? Why is everything so different?…Why is Mephone acting so different?

“I-I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE MAD AT ME! AND I GET IT! I KNOW I MESSED UP! I’M SORRY, I’M SO SORRY!”
Throwing himself against the wall with brute force still wasn’t working. So Caine dug as further into it as he could, scratching and tearing through what felt like electric barbed wire against his fingers.
“I-I DIDN’T MEAN IT!”

Why do such things even exist?

“I wrote a little list for you. I’d like to read it out loud, if that’s okay.” He stacked all of the sheets together and held them in front of Cobs’s corpse — specifically where his face used to be, now left nearly unrecognisable. “It’s called ‘39 Reasons why I hate you’.”

Summary
“Caine?” Pomni asked again. The orb drifted up and down in a nod. “How do I know it’s you? Why do you look so…” Small, weird, different. She’d been anticipating seeing a Caine clawing at the walls, or crying, or yelling. How ever she imagined finding Caine, he looked like, well, Caine. Not this.
oOo
The plan was simple: undelete Caine, get the Circus back up and running, and place some restrictions so Caine couldn't mess with them.
Unfortunately, Caine and the Circus are a little more complicated than meets the eye.

Summary
And then he could hear them moving closer and it was weird because he didn't intend to move his avatar, but he was stumbling backwards before he computed why. His back's impact with the wall behind him made them pause again.
"Was that..?" Pomni whispered.
"Be careful." Kinger spoke back, just as quiet, "He's broken out from here before."
Caine's arms felt itchy - and that was idiotic because he was a machine who didn't feel itchy - and his eyes were buzzing between his jaw, and he slowly slid his hands across the hitbox of the wall to feel less wobbly on his feet.

The humans find Caine in his box
They're expecting a raging, revenge-ridden AI who curses them for trapping him away - however accidentally it was. They're expecting him to order them to let him out. They aren't expecting him to beg.

Summary
For one, fleeting, beautiful moment, Caine feels powerful.
He's large and angry and holding his disgusting, hateful humans down against the wall, and screaming at them to understand; to comprehend why they would torment him like this. He's in charge, and they're trembling under his fingers and, with the sickly joy that's filling his avatar, he's feeling something other than his own overwhelming failure of an existence for a hot burning moment.
He shouldn't be feeling anything at all.
But - the next moment - he's small, stuttering out the beginnings of an apology or a plea and they're looking up at him with confused terror and he's looking down at them with scared eyes and that slimy glee in his hitbox curdles to shame because he was broken.
And then he's back in his box.
His box that his programmers had locked him in years ago.--
What if deleting Caine didn't put him in the recycling bin, but instead his prison from before the circus?

Summary
Among infinite indecipherable human sayings, one always stood out to Caine:
That their life would flash before their eyes as a prelude to death.
But they possess no neural network. No memory storage—how could such a thing be? Yet, among all those countless minds, all those files he sifted through, that belief held, shared by all.
He did not understand. He wracked his database over it time and time again, questioned Bubble—to varying degrees of… success—but naught ever came of it.
Thusly, he threw it in the bin, wiped it from his storage, and never thought of it again.
How creation turned into existence, and how existence turned into torture.
Caine's (unwilling) introspection on his own life as a self-imposed failure until the very end.
