Summary
You don't know how long it's been.
The doppelganger's words still ring in your ears, even as you clutch tighter the scissors in your grip. The copy of your coworker's wristwatch died months ago. You don't even have the fucking luxury of a wristwatch in the first place.
How long have you been stuck in this elevator? How do you know it hasn't been months? Years? How can you know if anything has changed, if Earth has continued to spin, if anything is real but the four walls that surround you and the man who stands in front of you now?
But is he real? How can you tell?
You could stain your suit deeper. More scarlet. More warmth, liquid that flows from veins and onto fabric, scissors bending from the force of thrusts. Red scattering the ceiling and walls as your arms rise far above you. A warm body that struggles, slows, turns cold. You could. It would prove it.
Or.
