    Summary

You weren’t supposed to be here.

Emergency evacuation was supposed to get you about an hour ago.

An hour ago, you were supposed to be on the next evacuation shuttle, wedged between frightened strangers and clutching whatever belongings you had managed to throw into a bag at the last minute. You were supposed to be watching Raccoon City disappear behind you through a window, headed toward the next city or town over.

Somewhere, anywhere. Somewhere safer than here.

Instead, you sat on the floor of your apartment with your back pressed against the side of your couch, listening to something scrape slowly against the hallway.

Raccoon City had been flipped upside down in just short of an hour.

    Summary

Working the graveyard shift at a gas station thirty minutes outside Raccoon City was supposed to be boring.

Then a half-dead customer mutates in your bathroom, you shoot him point-blank with the shotgun under the counter, and some guy named Bryan walks in to find you covered head to toe in blood.

“Grace is Rocky’s best friend.” Rocky said softly.

    “You’re my best friend too.”

“But Grace is Adrian’s pebble.” Rocky stated. "Grace coming back to Erid made Adrian and Rocky’s family complete. Taking care of Grace was not out of pity or because Adrian thought Grace was young or stupid. It was because Adrian loved Grace and was proud to have someone like Grace as a pebble.”
