“Do you ever take any yourself?” Din questioned aloud.
That made Vanth laugh, throwing his head back. It wasn’t meant to be a joke. He showed all his teeth, grin blindingly earnest, eyes crinkling at the corners, his smile lines visible.
“No days off for me, amigo. Someone’s gotta watch over these people,” he clarified, and he threw a wave over his shoulder as he walked to his room.
But who watches over you? The question sat unspoken on Din’s tongue.

His eyes were soft despite the creases around the edges and bright even in the shade of the peach tree, the stubble dark on his jaw. Rain almost wondered if it felt as rough as it looked. The little gap in his front teeth was endearing and made his smile oddly charming in a way that made Rain want to throw the basket at his feet and stomp off in frustration and embarrassment.
"I am more than capable." He huffs and adjusts the basket on his hip. "You can go back to doing your actual work instead of gawking at me on the clock."
