Summary
Euijoo meets Nicholas in a bar on Manhattan Beach Pier during the 2021 International Surf Festival. Nicholas is lean, blonde, bounces off the walls and laughs loud. His voice is deeper than it should be and he’s got little to no game, but Euijoo sticks around anyway. Nicholas is built and he’s hot, his shirt tight across his shoulders, his hair wild around his ears. He’s bright like sunshine and his lips are sinful when they wrap around the neck of a beer bottle or the rim of a glass of coke.
Nicholas doesn’t live too far from the pier; they walk side by side on the beach, talking about LA. Euijoo’s accent seems to stick to the roof of his mouth, and he pushes his hands in the pockets of his boardshorts to keep himself from reaching out, feeling Nicholas’s pulse at his wrist, seeing if it beats as fast as he talks. Nicholas takes his sandals off, toes digging in the sand.
Nicholas says, suddenly, cutting through the random topics they’re fleeting on, “I don’t really do this,” which seems like a lie until he adds, “With guys, I mean.”
To love is to change. Euijoo and Nicholas change each other, over the course of 5 summers.

Summary
After Nicholas' best friend moves out, he convinces himself he's fine living alone. Cats are solitary animals, right?
Then a dog moves in next door, and any chance at peace is gone.
Unfortunately, so is Nicholas's ability to keep pretending he doesn't miss being close to someone.

Summary
When they finally get back to the dorm, just the two of them, it's gone midnight. The ride back had been pretty quiet, Nicholas playing with the rings on Euijoo's fingers as they sat squished together in the back seats, Euijoo's head cushioned on Nicholas' shoulder. Both of them watching the neon lights of the city pass by out the window. Quiet, peaceful, content.
They got past the need to fill the silence a long time ago, falling into a steady rhythm with each other way before they even got their heads out of their asses and confessed. Nothing much really changed after that. Except for the sex, obviously.
OR: Nicholas and Euijoo get the dorm to themselves

Summary
There will always be moments in life that happen when you least expect it. The concept of those moments is no stranger to Euijoo, yet whenever they happen, it takes him by such surprise that he can almost physically feel them. Right now, it hits him with such force that it almost hurts where it lands somewhere between his ribs.
“Oh,” Nicholas says. Casual, much like Euijoo remembers him. Always casual. Time hasn’t changed that, it would seem. “Hi, Euijoo.”
