“No.”, he repeated and Yasmin chuckled at it. Her face did a thing there, a little, tiny thing. Something luminous. Something far away. Something vivid.
O didn’t care. The Master did.
Another one of your earth girls falling head over heels for you, Doctor, he thought while his lips curled into a smile. Then a grin. The sheer force of hate and murder and mine and for you, for you, for you that washed over him caught him off guard and it almost made him loose his composure.
Oh.
Lump in his throat.
Swallow.
(Anything but be left behind again.)
It still didn’t quite work.

Summary
After twenty-one years, four months, and two days in prison, the Doctor receives a visitor with a very surprising announcement...
“Apparently you’ve been very well behaved,” the Master replies pleasantly. “Well behaved enough, in fact, to be allowed a conjugal visit.”
...an even more surprising explanation...
“Do you remember back when you executed me at the request of those Fatality Index folks?” he asks. “Do you remember me pleading for my life and all that? The things we both said? Well, it turns out that those exact words are identical to the ones exchanged in wedding rites performed on Liaitia IV.” He pretends to look shocked. “What are the odds?”
...and an extremely bizarre request:
“I can’t sleep,” he says through clenched teeth. “All right? I can’t sleep and I didn’t know what else to do so I came here to find you.”
Even though the Doctor doesn’t believe that the Master will actually keep his promise to help her escape, she decides to help him anyway because, after two decades of imprisonment and isolation, a slim hope and some brief company might be the only things that will see her through to the other side.

The Doctor was not supposed to show up in the fake-Afterlife Missy was running, because the Doctor was not supposed to die, and he was definitely not supposed to die before teaming up with all his former selves and saving Gallifrey at the end of the Time War.
Faced with a temporal paradox that could destroy everything (including and especially herself), Missy finds herself doing the very last thing she ever wanted or expected to do: impersonating the Doctor and saving the day.

Strangled By the Red String: "Two characters go through a leap of characterization all the way to a Relationship Upgrade without any of the usual in-betweens; apparently Cupid forgot to tie the Red String of Fate on the lovers' pinkies at birth, and, in a desperate attempt to save face, he ended up garroting them with it in a back alley while he thought the audience wasn't paying attention."
After someone decides to deal with two problems at once, the Doctor and Master's final confrontation on Gallifrey goes bewilderingly off the rails.
It feels impossible. It is impossible. But when something feels this perfect, why would they ever want it to stop?

At the end of the universe, Clara Oswald travels to Gallifrey to beg the Time Lords for one simple request: we need your help. The universe is dying.
One dimension removed, Rose Tyler hacks at the universe walls, risking her entire world in an attempt to break through—not that it matters, because her world is already dead.

Summary
The TARDIS recruits a rescue team for the Doctor after the Judoon take her away, and the Master really shouldn't go. Particularly if it includes having to hang around a freakish temporal monstrosity like Jack Harkness. Then again, what does he have to lose? He could die, sure, but that means nothing when he always (always always always) comes back, whether he wants to or not.
Turns out the Doctor is determined to save the Master, too. He hates every second of it. Really, he absolutely does, she's very cruel and horrible, everything's her fault, and there's nothing good about spending time with the Doctor, at all. Ever.

The Doctor uses the chameleon arch to hide from the Judoon again, but doesn't plan on the Master coming looking for her.

when the doctor and yaz find a planet in ruins, they’re only half surprised to discover the master is responsible. but when his plan backfires, suddenly they have no choice but to work with him to stop his former allies from tearing the universe apart.

The risk the Master took was calculated, but man, is he bad at math.
The Master's plan in Power of the Doctor quickly goes awry and ends in a much better place than anyone could have hoped for. With any luck, the worst that'll happen is the Doctor will laugh at him for the rest of their lives for forgetting how regeneration works. And how very bad she is at it. That is, as long as there's nothing more sinister behind this evil plot than normal.
