Summary
"What would your options be if I hadn't agreed?" Thoma asked.
"Having second thoughts?" Ayato kept his voice light, teasing, his mask of a smile firmly in place to cover the shock of cryo coursing through his veins.
A narrow-eyed glance from his retainer. "No, of course not."
Ayato let his smirk broaden and sharpen, stitching the act into his skin. "I would not blame you if you did. It's not too late." Lilting. Dispassionate. He willed it into the flow of his words, the veiling of his frantic heart.
“I know," Thoma said, as if Ayato's question were deathly serious. His solemn gaze burned with conviction. "I am committed to this, my lord."
A year after the death of Ayato and Ayaka's parents, the clan succession is contested from within and without. Kamisato Ayato will do anything—anything—to ensure his family's safety and stability.
But powerful supporters come at an unimaginable price. When Ayato's own sacrifices aren't enough, he's forced to involve Thoma in a web of intrigue and exploitation that will push them to the breaking points of their bodies, their minds, and their very hearts.

Summary
"Back then, I had no choice but to accept the position I was in. While I desperately looked around for powerful supporters, I endured smear campaigns and attempts to exploit me. I had no other choice. I had to honor my parents' dying wishes, and I also had a young sister to take care of. I didn't mind what became of me, but my family... No one can ever be allowed to trample over my precious family. Fortunately, I persisted, and the Kamisato Clan was able to survive this storm."
How Ayato secured powerful supporters, endured exploitation, and weathered the storm of the years following the death of his parents... and how Thoma helped him contend with a bunch of self-serving, degenerate public officials.
And how, after much stilted fumbling and well-intended sacrifice, they learned the truth of one another's hearts.
or: Kushiel's Dart meets Genshin Impact in a quick-scorch-to-slow-burn romantic drama of court intrigue, sexual politics, and sacrifice.

Summary
Masterworks of the Zhuming are built to last forever, even by the standards of the immortals and with their expected nonchalance.
Despite that, after being "recruited", Ashveil is found by an old friend willing to give him some help with his prosthetic, as repayment for his cooperation.
(really, just an imagined filler scene that was stuck in my head a while)

Summary
"Why did I come looking for the people who helped bring down Irontomb in the midst of such a crisis?" He pauses long enough to let Dan Heng retort. He doesn't. "That and the fact that Stelle couldn't go five minutes without insisting we find you and the other passengers of the Express. I suspect she is very anxious about your absence. And as for why I came to find you, well."
His mouth curls around a smile, a very small one. His words are proud, taunting, quietly pained, but he offers them like a respite, not a threat. "I suppose it's just something I've got a talent for."
It irks Dan Heng that someone had come to find him, to rescue him. Worse that it had to be Blade, worse still that even the way in which Blade used to haunt him is now something he's meant to be grateful for. He has half a mind to wrap the hand at Blade's collar all the way around his throat, but the roar of adrenaline has lessened enough for him to be able to see how that would not help at all.
Or: Blade comes back from the dead. Dan Heng has several feelings on the matter.

Summary
“As you said, nothing’s changed.” And, as if no time had passed at all, Blade grasps the silver metal fingers without hesitation and pulls Ashveil’s hand the rest of the way, fearlessly pushing it against his side. He’d done that before. Yingxing had.
He’d grabbed it fearlessly, brazenly, so tenderly, and said, “Mr. La Mancha, have faith in what Master Huaiyan and I made for you.” Yingxing had smiled, and the dim light of the embers in the Flamewheel Forge glowed like sun on his snowy hair and danced in his purple eyes, reflecting La Mancha’s grim expression. Yingxing had threaded their fingers together, and even dared to caress one of the nails piercing La Mancha’s wrist with his thumb. “I am not afraid.”
“Even if the events of my past had not happened, I would have been destined to die before you.”
Blade speaks so impassively, as if it’s just a matter of course, and yet Ashveil has neither the heart nor the mind to show Blade the pang his words send lancing through his chest. Perhaps so. Perhaps he’s right.
Still, Ashveil ignores it, and Blade lets him.

Summary
Mydei stares at him, silent for a beat, before speaking again, slowly, blatantly ignoring Phainon’s question. “... You’ve never kissed anyone.”
“I didn’t say that!” The rebuttal bursts from Phainon before he can even think it through, his flush climbing to higher on his cheeks. Mydei raises his eyebrows and scrutinizes Phainon’s expression in that way of his, when he looks straight through all of Phainon’s masks and walls. Denial is futile, but he has to try anyway. “I didn’t say anything! How did you even jump to that conclusion?!”
“So I was right,” is all Mydei supplies. He even has the audacity to look smug about it.
