In the end, it was Jinu’s worst sin that he destroyed and betrayed himself for nothing. And for that, he was worth no forgiveness, no heavenly reprieve to save him from a hell of his own making. He deserved to rot in the flames for eternity, the flames licking at his skin, blistered and damaged.
He felt grateful when, after his sacrifice, he found himself back in the same spot, kneeling in front of Gwi-Ma, his voice silent, once again begging to end the pain. It was kindness when Gwi-Ma mocked him, destroying him from the inside out. After all, Jinu’s sacrifice was made with a selfish origin; he was only atoning for his own mistakes.

After sacrificing himself to Gwi-Ma to save Rumi, Jinu is tortured for his failure. After escaping, it's up to Rumi to put the pieces back together.

This felt bad. He hadn’t really been tracking as much, hell, just last night him and Ilya had gotten takeout from a fried chicken place nearby.
Swallowing, his hands started to tremble.
He could nearly taste the butter, the bread crumb coating the chicken, the oil it was fried in. And once he started thinking about it, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
How many calories had that been? A lot, right? Especially since it was restaurant made, he had no idea how much of each ingredient they had used. Bile rose up in his throat.
