He ignored the goosebumps and replied a shivered, “What’s up?”
“Is it still early?” Eddie implored, her voice engulfed in exhaustion.
With a soft chuckle, Buck settled his cheek against the top of Eddie’s head. “Yeah, baby,” he answered just above a whisper, “it’s still early.”
Eddie’s response was a contented hum, then she decompressed like a weighted blanket over Buck, boneless and warm.
