Summary
“I’m… I’m not supposed to be here,” he stutters, gripping the helmet in both hands, his knuckles gone all white. He looks up and swallows back the bitter taste in his mouth, throat clicking audibly in the quiet. “Please. I don’t want to die.”
Rocky stops, staring at him.
He stares at Grace’s trembling mouth, the shaking of his legs, the sweat collecting on the suit’s collar. Understanding blooms slowly on his face—too slow—so Grace decides to hammer in the point by tilting his head just the slightest bit to the left, baring his neck.
There, right under his ear, swollen and red: a needle mark.
Rocky’s breath catches. “You did not sign up to be a pilot,” he whispers, horror-stricken.
It’s not a question.
***
Rocky’s copilot is dead. Stratt needs a team willing to sacrifice themselves. And Grace is a researcher who just wants to lay low and do his job.
Somehow, all three of these things are connected.

Summary
“Meet-cute,” Rocky repeats after what he’s sure has constituted a long enough pause in conversation to become awkward. “It is an interaction in which two individuals have their first official meeting while in a situation that can be considered cute, humorous, embarrassing—”
“What?” Grace cuts him off. “No, I mean—yes, ‘course I know what a meet-cute is. Jesus christ.” The man shakes his head. “Who are you?”
“Oh. Well, Rockett is my government issued surname. But I prefer the name Rocky. Has charm to it, yes? I also respond to Rock on occasion.”
He holds out a hand.
“It is nice to meet you!”

or, Rocky time travels.
And also speedruns the full human experience. That too.

Summary
“Okay, now you’re talking crazy.”
“You’re the one trapped in your own fucking mind,” Lucas argues. He gestures with a hand, eyebrow raised, to where someone is chatting Will up at the bar. “And you’re the one imagining a fake boyfriend for your best friend.”
Mike huffs. “What’s that s’pposed to mean?”
Lucas stares deadpan at him.
“Dude, the guy right there? Looks exactly like you. Just, like, less nerdy and stuff. Kind of less boney, too. I don’t wanna read too much into it, but… well, if you’re gonna have a sexuality crisis, you might as well do it before the end of the world.”
***
They won the battle and killed Vecna. El died in the aftermath. Oh, and Mike is a fantasy author living in Indianapolis in the 1990s. Somehow, it’s all connected.
(Mike’s trapped inside his own mind, living out false memories. The Party’s planning on rescuing him. It’s just… a work in progress.)

Summary
Vox squints his eyes. “Who?”
Val and Vel both stare at him, dumbfounded.
They share a look with each other, just as confused as him. Vel clears her throat. “The Radio Demon?” she tries, like he should recognize it.
He doesn’t.
“Radio?” Vox furrows his brow, thinking. “Kind of outdated, isn’t it? Aren’t we in the modern era of television right now?” He makes a wide sweeping gesture. “Out with the old, in with the new!”
***
or, an amnesiac box-head era Vox.
Featuring a very much meddling Alastor.

Summary
“Power shuts down, we lose connection, and I’m still stranded down here. So what’re you gonna do then? Sic him on me?” John asks. “He’s not a bloodhound, Jesus Christ.”
“Well,” Val hums in his earpiece. “The treatment made sure his senses would be far more enhanced than that of a regular super soldier. He’s got a damn good nose.”
“Yeah, sure, but he’ll also be in rut,” he reminds her.
“Then he’ll definitely find you. Besides, don’t all alphas like a good hunt? Chasing? Digging for a bone?” She laughs. “Think of it like that.”
***
John is on a solo mission. Val sends help.

Summary
It's a remarkable fluke that Earth has managed: sending one scientist into space on one-way trip only to discover him back in the solar system after three decades, and sending an entirely different astronaut for a circuit up to Mars and back just for disaster to strike and he's left stranded alone on the planet. Wilder still that the timelines align, and both space-farers end up on the same ship back home.
Or:
Project Hail Mary x The Martian crossover because the parallels go crazy and I needed to think thoughts that were not just spiraling about PHM so I rewatched The Martian and roped my other favourite scifi main character into it too. Featuring the dumbest fic title I have ever come up with.
