Jamie Tartt is sitting in one of the little plastic chairs put out for the kids on the rug that's made to look like a map. He looks comically large among the kid sized area.
Phoebe is still holding Roy's hand and all Roy can think is: no fucking way Jamie Tartt sees the same dam pediatrician as his seven year old niece.
But then a little boy comes around the corner after Jamie has met Roy's gaze and something imperceptible crosses his face.
"Daddy! They have a bear book! Like at home." The kid, must have been five or so, tumbles right into Jamie fucking Tartt.

Jamie is a teen dad, which is revealed to the rest at Richmond when his son shows up to practice due to school unexpectedly falling through. Having Jamie’s son there exposes a new side of the prickly striker and while Roy hates the Prince Prick of all Pricks, he’s also not going to be at dick to a child because of it. And the more he finds out about Jamie, the more he realizes there is more to him. That there is a reason he acts the way he does, and – fuck Lasso for it – Roy wants to fucking help the prick.

Summary
Early in Ted’s tenure as coach, Sam and Jamie end up as roommates during an away game. That night Sam discovers Jamie is suicidal after Jamie asks him to sit with him, feeling like he might kill himself if he’s left alone. Jamie thinks Sam will leave him be afterwards, but Sam can’t just let Jamie walk away knowing all this, it wouldn’t be right.
Sam’s attempt to look out for Jamie, even if Jamie thinks it’s not necessary, pushes him to become more confident and assertive, stepping up as a leader. Meanwhile, Jamie is pushed to be more open by Sam refusing to let him go on as if any of this is okay or normal. As their friendship develops, Jamie grapples with his childhood trauma, while Sam works through how he feels about becoming friends with someone who has bullied him in the past, as well as figuring out how to feel about the fact that Ted and Roy are imperfect people too, especially when it comes to how they approach Jamie.
