Tess rolls her eyes a bit. "Give him some space, hon, he just got here! Jak, c'mon, have a seat." She moves to the bed and gestures to her chair. "Warmed it up for ya and everything."
"Uh - thanks," Jak says as he all but collapses into the rickety frame. He peels Daxter off his head and promptly crushes him in a hug. "Missed you too, Dax." His voice muffles into the thick hair between Daxter's ears. The ottsel winds his arms into Jak's scarf and sighs happily.
The display is achingly intimate. Tess looks away.
"Hey, Tess." She starts at Jak's soft voice. He's looking at her over Daxter's head, petting through his fur in a way that suggests habit. "Um - so you guys had a good night, huh."
"Yeah!" She plays with her fingers, "Yeah, it was - nice." She could use a lot of words to describe last night - intense, emotional, cathartic. Good was not among them.
