Summary
After 27 years, Earth's Hail Mary comes through. The world has been forever changed, and billions died because of the Astrophage crisis, but space agencies have done their best to survive and keep their telescopes pointing to Tau Ceti. After the beetles are spotted, Eva Stratt forces her way into the CSA office to learn what the Hail Mary crew discovered. Downloading the data is slow and happens in pieces, so the team has to try piecing together what happened out in the Tau Ceti system.
Eva Stratt is forced to face what she did to Dr. Grace all while slowly discovering just how right she was to send him, leading to a complex mix of emotions. Part of her wishes things could have been different. But she knows that wishing on a star is useless.
