Summary
To help expand Joker's operation, King Donquixote Doflamingo arranges a marriage between his heir, Trafalgar Law, and the pirate prince of Goa, Monkey D. Luffy. Law knows the well-being of his loved ones depends on his ability to play his part, so he resigns himself to exchanging one gilded cage for another.
Luffy, however, makes it hard when he's perfectly suited to getting under Law's skin, putting the engagement and Law's promise to protect his loved ones in danger.

“Figure what out?” Torao looked suspicious, like he thought the fearsome Pirate King really would pluck his eyes from his head.
“Figure out you,” Luffy said. “C’mon, Torao. Let’s go find who you are.”
The Pirate King lands on a burned down island with streets as white as snow and happens upon a lingering ghost.

In hindsight, the poorly disguised stares of pity that the Straw Hats kept sending his way should have been the first sign that the alliance would be more than he bargained for.
"You gonna betray me?" Straw Hat asks, after his crewmates warn him of the risks involved with pirate alliances. He takes Law's curt 'no' at face value, and beams like he's just been paid the greatest compliment.
Or: Law learns what it means to have faith again.
